Hey whats up, susan here. I wanted to share with you some info which had been sent to me a few days back. I must say i believe that it is a good idea and an addition for the Belizean community. I do not know if you all recalled last year a group named Belizean Artwork had been providing free publications of books and CD's for Belizean artist. They are now in pre-launch of an online game website called the Belize Trivia Challenge game. They have combined promoting Belizean artist and fueling knowledge about Belize in to a method that will most likely take root in Belizean culture.

What's the deal:

Whenever you buy a Belizean Artwork publication; book or CD from the store, one of their publication agents or at their online store, each publication includes a ticket inside that has a unique code that gives you points to play the game (Each code could only be used once). Simply refer to the instructions on the ticket for adding the points to your account that you're going to create at the game site. You will need these points to play the game.

Once you've done that click on play now from the menu. Any time you play the game, 25 points are deducted out of your account and put into the weekly jackpot. Each week a different competition starts Mon 8am and ends Sat 10pm. The game is made up of 10 random questions on topics about Belize, and has 4 multiply choice answers. Each question is worth 1000 points plus you've got 25 seconds to choose the right answer. However, for each second that passes which you don’t choose an answer, you loose 25 points from your score. There's also a hint button, but as soon as you use it, you loose 300 points from your score. Make sure you submit your score with the same username you signed up with.

By the end of the competition, the jackpot points are changed into cash and the player with the highest score walks away with the cash prize. You could have the check mailed to you (worldwide) or else you can pick it up at the Leo Bradley Library. The competiton starts again the next Monday on a new topic.

Competition starts Monday, August 30th 2010. If you join today, you will receive 200 points to get started playing the demo game to see how it works. On Saturday August 28th all demo points will be deleted and you'll need point tickets from their publications to play the game throughout the competition.

I played the game several times. The questions are a bit easy, but I guess it is because it is simply the demo. However the concept is a plus and it is something I think we ought to all support. This is something we need to become part of our culture if we are going to solidify our identity as a people and past on valuable information, especially to the younger generation. The game was created by Tiffany Simpson. I must applaud her for this and hope that she inspires other young women to strive for excellence.
