There is trouble in the Belize tourism industry this month.

The Belize Tourism Board is in the middle of a maelstrom following a decision by Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia to summarily fire two leading members of the BTB board of directors.

The troubled BTB already has a slew of problems to deal with, including allegations of incompetence and mismanagement, offering junkets to foreign reporters to write fluff articles on Belize tourism, sponsoring million-dollar websites for insiders and an apparent compromised position on cruise tourism.
